The American Conservative (TAC) is seeking a Senior Director, Operations to oversee its internal operations and growth plans. This position is senior-level, full-time, and reports directly to the Executive Director.
The American Conservative was founded in 2002 to advance a “Main Street” conservatism that opposes unchecked power in government and business, promotes the flourishing of families and communities through vibrant markets and free people, and embraces realism and restraint in foreign affairs based on America’s vital national interests.
In the nearly twenty years since, TAC has grown beyond its origins as a for-profit print magazine (while still maintaining the magazine as a core program) and is now a growing, dynamic nonprofit organization. It pursues its mission through its print magazine, website, podcasts, conferences, events, and fellowship programs for young professionals.
The organization has evolved considerably in recent years, doubling its annual revenue since 2016. It is now a key player in the ongoing conversations on the political Right.
The Senior Director, Operations at TAC is an essential organizational leader, overseeing administrative operations, human resources, and facilities. The Senior Director, Operations will work closely with the Executive Director on strategic planning, organizational management, production and coordination of the print magazine, administrative compliance, and special projects. The Senior Director, Operations must have a proven track record of scaling organizational growth, managing the operations of a vibrant and growing nonprofit, and a demonstrated the ability to motivate and manage others. Additionally, the ideal candidate will reflect a desire to promote “Main Street” conservatism and a passion for the mission and vision of the organization. Direct experience in the operations of a publication is a plus.
This position is based out of the TAC office in Washington D.C. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a full benefits package.
