Patrick Henry College seeks a Major Gifts Officer to help raise funds for the college.

Patrick Henry College (PHC) is a private, nondenominational, and TRACS-accredited institution located near Washington, D.C., in Purcellville, Virginia. The classical liberal arts – wed to a strong biblical foundation – are at the heart of the College’s educational philosophy. This approach is evidenced by the College’s unique sixty-three credit-hour core curriculum. PHC is known for its talented and highly-motivated students and for its high academic quality.

The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) serves Patrick Henry College by providing leadership in the area of major gift fundraising, with special emphasis on the development of new and recent major donors. In addition to managing a portfolio of major donors, the successful candidate will seek to acquire and cultivate new donors by developing and implementing outreach programs and donor experiences that encourages support for PHC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a personal caseload of existing major donors.
  • Identify and cultivate potential major donors acquired through PHC’s planned prospecting efforts (mail, email, etc.).
  • Identify and cultivate potential major donors NOT acquired through PHC’s planned prospecting efforts (research, cold calls, outside event attendance, networking, etc.)
  • Identify philanthropic foundations and submit appropriate grant proposals.
  • Manage existing and develop new donors to the PHC Foundation (Endowment).
  • Travel both regionally and nationally.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct specific fundraising programs, events, and initiatives, specifically geared towards the acquisition of new major donors.
  • Play a key role in enhancing the overall PHC brand, communications, and messaging strategy.
  • Foster good communications with other areas of the College on behalf of the Advancement Office.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enthusiastic support for Patrick Henry College’s mission and statement of faith.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years’ successful experience in fundraising or sales.
  • Willingness to travel 35 percent of the time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and manage fundraising professionals.
  • Proven ability, experience and desire to build relationships with people of influence and affluence.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter who is able to work remotely as needed.
  • Results-oriented team player with a can do, sunny disposition.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
