Foundation Director


T.W. Lewis Foundation - Scottsdale, Arizona

The T.W. Lewis Foundation seeks a Foundation Director to manage and coordinate its gifts and activities in its key program areas: Universities, Children and Families, Educating Youth, Community Support, and Strengthening America.

The Foundation Director will be passionate, outgoing, personable, and be able to stay organized and implement result-driven metrics with partners. The successful candidate will share the Foundation’s conservative and Christian values and be excited about the missions of the organizations supported by the Foundation. The ideal candidate will be a mid-career professional with experience in philanthropy.

Working in close collaboration with the founder and CEO, Tom Lewis, the Director will seek to enhance and increase the Foundation’s overall impact, help the Foundation’s partners reach their potential, ensure adherence to the Foundation’s gift agreements, and identify new partnerships that will deepen the Foundation’s mission.

This full-time position will be based in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the Foundation’s office. Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience, and includes a full benefits package.

 About the Foundation:

The T.W. Lewis Foundation’s purpose is to improve the quality of life for others by helping people and organizations reach their potential. The Foundation developed out of the success of the T.W. Lewis Company, a Phoenix-based real estate investment company known for its quality and outstanding customer service in the homebuilding industry.

Formed in 2000 by Tom and Jan Lewis, the Foundation has provided college scholarships to over 200 future leaders, made gifts to dozens of nonprofits that help children and families in need, and supported youth education organizations that build character and encourage civic engagement. The Foundation has also provided leadership and financial support for a wide variety of community-based organizations. Organizations supported by the Foundation include Arizona State University’s Barrett Honors College, Young Life, Girls Scouts, Indigo, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Jewish Family and Children’s Services, Museum of the Bible, Banner Cancer Center, Desert Botanical Gardens, Cato Institute, and the Heritage Foundation, among others.

 Primary Responsibilities:

The Foundation Director’s primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Interfacing with all grantees on a regular basis.
  • Coordinating quarterly reporting for all gifts.
  • Managing all gift agreements to ensure donor intent.
  • Representing T.W. Lewis Foundation in the community.
  • Preparing new gift agreements for trustee approval.
  • Participating in annual business plan preparation.
  • Determining new ways to engage with others in foundation activities to enhance impact.
  • Managing the grant application review process.
  • Identifying and evaluating grantees for greater impact.

 Key Qualifications:

 10+ years of nonprofit experience, grantmaking foundation preferred.

  • Substantial business acumen.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Advanced analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, lead projects, and inspire others.
  • Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with foundation leaders to drive decision-making.
  • Demonstrated close personal alignment with the Foundation’s mission.
  • Advanced professional degree (e.g., JD or MBA) preferred.
