The analyst is primarily responsible for supporting American Philanthropic’s consultants within a specific consulting group in their client engagements by assisting with a variety of writing and research projects, client communications, project management, and administrative tasks. The analyst works with other members of the American Philanthropic staff and with contractors to ensure that the firm continues to meet a high standard of excellence in serving its clients and fulfilling its obligations. Primary activities and responsibilities include the following.
Client Support and Projects
■ Acquiring a deep technical and strategic understanding of the fundamentals of nonprofit development and American Philanthropic’s distinctive approach;
■ Mastering the use of Salesforce, and basic Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, and assisting with the formatting and editing of documents on these platforms;
■ Acquiring a thorough working knowledge of the landscape of organizations, funders, and key leaders within the landscape of American Philanthropic’s clients;
■ Writing, editing, and proof-reading grant proposals, solicitation letters, and other documents;
■ Researching qualified individual, foundation, and corporate donor prospects and creating formal profiles on these donor prospects;
■ Assisting with the creation of client collateral materials, including drafting content and coordinating design and printing, as necessary;
■ Interacting professionally by phone and email with internal and external partners including consultants, contractors, and vendors;
■ Executing and tracking phone calls on behalf of clients to donors and prospects;
■ Assisting with the tracking and internal coordination of client projects and calendars as requested; and
■ Completing tasks efficiently, accurately, and on time by taking ownership of each project assignment.
Administrative and Other Tasks
■ Assisting senior staff with administrative tasks as needed, such as scheduling, travel arrangements, task management, and expense filing;
■ Inputting data into Salesforce and helping maintain contact records and other information as needed;
■ Assisting with office-related duties, as requested; and
■ Assisting with the performance of other company-related tasks as needed.
The position reports directly to a general consulting group leader and may occasionally require some local and national travel for meetings, events, and trainings.
The ideal candidate will have some professional experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting. Liberal arts background preferred. An exceptional candidate will demonstrate:
