An introduction to fundraising fundamentals
Grow your development program and raise more money for your mission
American Philanthropic and the Center for Civil Society's Elements of Fundraising training seminar is designed for new nonprofit development professionals, as well as other nonprofit leaders looking to brush up on the fundamentals of development. This in-person training covers a range of development topics at an introductory level, giving participants a general overview of the foundational principles and essential practices of successful nonprofit fundraising. After the group training sessions, participants receive a one-on-one coaching session with an American Philanthropic consultant.
The experience
In an intimate small group setting, seasoned consultants from American Philanthropic will teach you how to find new donors, nurture strong relationships with existing donors, build strong foundation and major donor programs, and more. You’ll also schedule an hour-long one-on-one coaching session with one of the session leaders to discuss your particular fundraising challenges and questions and identify ways to help your nonprofit succeed. In addition to the group training sessions and personalized advising, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet peers facing similar challenges, enjoy good meals together, and explore downtown Phoenix.
Participants come away from the training with a solid understanding of: (1) how to approach fundraising and develop a healthy development culture, (2) basics on how to find new donors and keep the ones they already have, and (3) how to establish or grow strong major donor and foundation programs. Participants also receive a comprehensive course manual with additional information and tools to reference again and again after the training.

Escape winter weather woes with a trip to sunny Phoenix, Arizona, this March. The Elements of Fundraising training sessions will be held at The Department in the heart of walkable downtown Phoenix, with additional opportunities for hospitality and good conversation at nearby local restaurants. Participants traveling to Phoenix for the training can access group rates at the Hilton Garden Inn downtown, or can choose to stay at another of the many other hotels within walking distance of the training location.

The cost of $1,500 includes all costs for the training sessions, one-on-one coaching, all meals noted in the agenda, and take-home resource materials you will find yourself turning to again and again.
