Laurel McCombs
Senior Philanthropy Advisor @The Osborne Group, Laurel McCombs brings 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and a passion for the role philanthropy can play in changing the world to her work as a consultant, partner, and trainer. Laurel has worked closely with clients on a variety of topics, including donor retention, development operations, planning, donor management, board development and more. Current and recent clients include the National Minority AIDS Council, Council of Michigan Foundations, La Clinica de la Raza and the University of Missouri. In addition to well-received workshops at national conferences, such as Junior Achievement and JDRF, Laurel has presented at the Association of Fundraising Professionals International Conference, AFP Congress, CASE-NAIS, and several local development professional associations. Prior to joining Osborne Group, Laurel worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters where she was responsible for the coordination of capacity building resources and support to more than 350 agencies nationwide.
Doug Schneider
American Philanthropic Managing Partner Doug Schneider has nearly two decades of experience in sales, marketing, communications, and fundraising. Prior to joining American Philanthropic, Doug served as the director of development for the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI). In this capacity he managed ISI’s annual fund, was part of ISI’s management team, and oversaw the institute’s marketing and communications efforts. As a partner at American Philanthropic, Doug works with a wide range of nonprofit organizations, with a focus on strategic planning and high-level development management. Doug regularly speaks on a variety of development-related topics and has led fundraising training sessions for State Policy Network, the Charles Koch Institute, and Foundation Center, among other venues. Doug graduated magna cum laude with a degree in political science from Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania. He has served on several local nonprofit boards and resides in Newark, DE with his wife and four children.
Justin Streiff
Justin is a partner with American Philanthropic and provides full-service strategic consulting to nonprofits, with a particular emphasis on development department management. Prior to joining American Philanthropic, Justin served for several years as the director of development with the Foundation for Economic Education. During his tenure, FEE experienced average annual growth of 30%. Justin also led the fundraising program for the Goldwater Institute in Arizona and has directed nationwide fundraising efforts for dozens of political campaigns, PACs, & nonprofits. To-date, Justin has been involved in raising well over $100 million through major gifts, capital campaigns, foundation grants, independent expenditures, planned giving, & direct response fundraising, including phone and mail programs.
