A customized database leads to effective donor management

The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF) exists to educate the next generation of conservative leaders by providing them the intellectual tools necessary to learn about the conservative movement, its leaders, its leading organization, and especially its principles.

When ACUF came to American Philanthropic in 2017, they were using a database that didn’t give them the ability to customize their records or manage their donors effectively.

American Philanthropic partnered with ACUF to address this inefficiency. We constructed a complete Salesforce database utilizing the Nonprofit Success Pack, which is built for and with nonprofits. After building the database, we migrated more than half a million records from their previous system. Following the build and migration, we gave in-depth, one-on-one training to prepare their database administrator and end users for the day-to-day database management tasks.

ACUF now has a usable and customizable development database. Among the customizations, each ACUF major gift officer (MGO) has a portfolio on the database that he or she uses to manage his or her donors and tasks. Additionally, ACUF management uses these views to coordinate with the MGOs and strategize throughout the year. Moreover, ACUF has integrated event attendance from their popular annual event, Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC), into Salesforce, allowing them a more comprehensive view of their constituents’ involvement with ACUF. Since 2017, American Philanthropic has maintained a fruitful relationship with ACUF and continues to provide customization, consulting, and assistance with integrations as needed.
