Located outside Charlotte, North Carolina, Belmont leadership recognized that with the city’s steady growth and booming economy, strategic opportunities exist to chart a course into the college’s future. To drive that growth, the college decided to increase its focus on fundraising and engaged American Philanthropic for an executive search for a Vice President of Advancement.
American Philanthropic held conversations with the President, several board members, and key leaders at the college to conduct a needs analysis of personnel in general and to identify the specific attributes required for this position. Our goal was to identify who precisely will add value to the leadership currently in place. American Philanthropic considered the cultural values and habits, leadership and management experience, and personality traits that would suggest the right fit for Belmont and its growth.
Understanding that seasoned talent and experience are most effective when mission and culture are aligned, American Philanthropic crafted an attractive position narrative and an ideal-candidate profile.American Philanthropic created a digital marketing campaign to recruit applicants in niche markets, personally headhunted candidates within in our networks and propriety database, and leveraged our subscription-based outlets to recruit talent.
Next, American Philanthropic thoroughly assessed applicants through a series of interviews, incorporating both behavioral and personality assessments, and, ultimately, recruiting dozens of talented applicants. American Philanthropic created comprehensive profiles of its top recommendations for Belmont and participated in the in-person interviews and compensations negotiations.
Belmont Abbey College now has a mission-focused, seasoned person with decades of experience, both in corporate business and higher education development and administration. He is well-positioned to develop Belmont’s opportunities for creative and strategic partnerships. American Philanthropic understood and appreciated the mission and culture of Belmont, recognized its next strategic phase for advancement, and recruited high talent to provide Belmont with options in selecting this key leadership position!
