Senior Consultant After graduating from Hillsdale College with a degree in English, Kelly worked in the school's publications department for two years. Although her primary job was to write for the college's alumni magazine, donor newsletters, and other external publications, she quickly learned the basic ins and outs of graphic design and became responsible for the production of many of these publications, as well as the written content.
In 2004, a family relocation to the East Coast brought her to the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, where she took a job as a development officer. There, she assumed a wide range of responsibilities, including visiting donors; planning events such as daylong conferences, anniversary dinners, and awards ceremonies; writing solicitation and thank you letters; overseeing several other development staff; and-by the end of her tenure-designing almost all promotional materials for the organization, including brochures, newsletters, invitations, programs, and advertisements. Most notably, for over five years she was the primary designer, writer, and editor of the tri-annual donor and alumni magazine published by the institute, which she transformed from an eight-page newsletter into a fifty-plus page magazine that became the highlight of the organization's promotional materials.
Kelly also has done a wide range of contract work, including designing book covers, book interiors, stationary, annual reviews, strategic plans, merchandise catalogs, and Web site templates. She lives in Pennsylvania's beautiful Brandywine Valley with her husband and two young daughters.
