Philanthropist Calls Donor Intent "a powerful tool"

In a recent OpEd piece, William E. Simon, Jr. writes that "freedom of choice encourages mission, focus and creativity thereby benefiting thousands upon thousand of worthy causes." He further comments: "Donors thrive when they specialize, when they focus their resources and develop an expertise in achieving a particular set of charitable objectives." In contrast to this freedom, Simon is concerned that activists are seeking to legislate charitable giving to the potential detriment of philanthropy. Read his compelling argument at:
